Lagos State Government equips nearly 3,800 residents with business tools to boost livelihoods

This effort aims to transition beneficiaries from vocational training into income-generating businesses and strengthen household livelihoods across the state. The equipment, provided by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, covers trades such as tailoring, photography, food processing, baking, hairdressing, and agriculture. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stated that this initiative is a practical component of governance, emphasizing that the strength of a government is measured by the lives it touches and empowers.

He highlighted the importance of small-scale operators, artisans, and entrepreneurs to Lagos' economy and urged recipients to use the tools as business capital to create employment and achieve financial independence. The program is designed to reach residents across all areas of Lagos, ensuring economic opportunity regardless of location. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bolaji Dada, noted that 18,990 residents have received business start-up equipment through MESI since the Sanwo-Olu administration began.
