
Bauchi Emirate confers traditional title of Jigon Bauchi on former President Goodluck Jonathan
The Bauchi Emirate has bestowed the traditional title of Jigon Bauchi upon former President Goodluck Jonathan. The Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Adamu, conferred the title during a ceremony at the Emir’s Palace in Bauchi metropolis. Jonathan was honored for his contributions to strengthening democracy, peace, and national unity in Nigeria. The Emir praised Jonathan as a good leader committed to promoting peace and democracy. Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who led a delegation to the event, thanked the Emirate for the recognition, stating that the conferment reflects Jonathan’s contributions to Nigeria's democracy and national unity. Jonathan expressed deep honor for the recognition and pledged to respect the laws and traditions of the Bauchi Emirate Council, upholding the dignity of the title. Jonathan had been in Bauchi since Sunday and on Monday inaugurated road projects executed by the Bala Mohammed-led administration.
