Inspector-General of Police visits Niger State after abductions, vows rescue of worshippers
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, visited Niger State to assess the security situation and ongoing rescue operations following the abduction of worshippers in Dekara District, Borgu Local Government Area. Received by Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba, who represented Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, and Commissioner for Homeland Security Maurice Magaji, Disu conveyed condolences from the Nigeria Police Force to the state government, its people, and the victims' families. He assured them that the safe recovery of the abducted persons and the arrest of perpetrators are the focus of current operations. Disu commended the Commissioner of Police, Adamu Elleman, for the command's response and situation reports, and thanked the Niger State Government for its support. He charged officers to maintain intelligence-led operations, prioritizing victim safety, and directed the command to enhance inter-agency coordination and community engagement. The Deputy Governor praised Disu's visit and reiterated state support for security agencies. Disu also met with the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Dr Umar Farouk Bahago, to strengthen collaboration with traditional institutions. The police reaffirmed their commitment to rescuing the abducted, safeguarding communities, and bringing perpetrators to justice.
