Manchester City in talks with Liverpool for Cody Gakpo transfer
Manchester City has initiated discussions with Liverpool regarding a potential transfer for forward Cody Gakpo. BBC Sport reported that City made formal contact on Saturday evening to explore a deal for the 27-year-old attacker. Tottenham Hotspur also expressed interest, but Gakpo reportedly prefers a move to Manchester City if he departs Anfield. Liverpool is hesitant to approve Gakpo's exit without securing a replacement forward, with Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh and Crystal Palace attacker Isma茂la Sarr being considered. Gakpo's future became uncertain after Liverpool agreed to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola for up to 拢123 million. The Dutch forward joined Liverpool from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 and has scored 33 goals in 91 Premier League appearances. Gakpo assisted a goal in Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday, having also scored in the previous week's draw against Newcastle.
