
Burkina Faso's U20 Étalons receive heroic welcome after UFOA-B tournament victory and AFCON qualification
The Burkina Faso U20 Étalons received a warm welcome in Ouagadougou on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, following their victory in the UFOA-B tournament in Côte d'Ivoire. This achievement also secured their qualification for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations AFCON, scheduled for 2027 in Ghana. Upon their arrival at Ouagadougou International Airport, the Burkinabè delegation was met with a festive atmosphere, including entertainment provided by the National Union of Étalons Supporters. Colette Ouédraogo, Secretary General of the Ministry of Sports, expressed pride in their performance and conveyed the authorities' recognition, hoping the team would maintain their momentum for similar results at the upcoming AFCON. Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo, President of the Burkinabè Football Federation, congratulated the team and dedicated the trophy to the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, acknowledging his support. Sawadogo stated that qualification was the first step after missing two previous editions, and emphasized the need for thorough preparation for the AFCON in Ghana.
