Philip Aroko links Homa Bay unrest to Kasipul by-election violence, alleges Governor Wanga's involvement
Kasipul MP aspirant Philip Aroko has publicly alleged that armed groups responsible for deadly political violence in Homa Bay earlier this year were also involved in unrest during the Kasipul Constituency by-election. In a Facebook post, Aroko detailed a pattern of thuggery, claiming the violence in Kasipul was planned at the home of the late MP and executed under the direction of the sitting Kasipul MP, acting on instructions from Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga. Aroko cited incidents including attacks on police officers, the killing of two youths, destruction of his vehicles, and the beating of a Kasipul DCIO officer. He also alleged that the same attackers ransacked a hospital belonging to another MP aspirant, Newton Ogada, and destroyed his vehicles. Aroko urged supporters to seek votes for President William Ruto's camp through legitimate means. Ogada separately accused Governor Wanga of funding the assault and asked her to stay away from his son's burial, citing the trauma from the attacks. Wanga and the Kasipul MP have not responded to Aroko's new allegations.
