Pastef MP Guy Marius Sagna reveals Ousmane Sonko received 1.7 billion CFA francs in political funds
Pastef Member of Parliament Guy Marius Sagna has disclosed that Ousmane Sonko, in his former capacity as Prime Minister, reportedly received 1.7 billion CFA francs from political funds. Sagna stated that these funds were disbursed without institutional oversight. He clarified that while the mechanism for these funds is legal, they are not subject to institutional control, similar to funds available to the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who reportedly has access to over 8 billion CFA francs from various funds including political, secret, special, and sovereign funds. Sagna criticized the perceived contradiction between the amount Sonko received and his public stance on regulating political funds. He also highlighted what he termed a "perjury" by President Diomaye Faye on this issue, noting that Sonko continues to advocate for the regulation of "all" political funds, a position he held while in opposition. Sagna sarcastically questioned this perceived inconsistency on social media, pointing to the 1.7 billion CFA francs received by Sonko versus his public discourse on fund regulation.
