Ghana's Parliament to reinstate Afenyo-Markin to ECOWAS Parliament delegation

He will replace Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei, who voluntarily stepped down. This decision follows a past controversy where the ECOWAS Parliament initially refused to swear in the Ghanaian delegation due to a dispute over its composition. The issue stemmed from the requirement for leadership representation from both sides of the House, specifically the Deputy Majority Leader and Deputy Minority Leader.

Mr. Afenyo-Markin had served in the previous ECOWAS Parliament session as Deputy Majority Leader. The reinstatement aims to correct these structural issues and ensure the delegation complies with ECOWAS rules. The full delegation includes George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Laadi Ayii Ayamba, Eric Afful, Dominic Napare, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, Bryan Acheampong, and Millicent Yeboah Amankwah as an observer.
