Forensic audit report on National Cathedral submitted to Attorney General
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, announced that the forensic audit report concerning the National Cathedral project has been submitted to the Attorney General. The Attorney General received the report on Friday, August 7, 2026, and is currently reviewing it to determine the subsequent course of action. Kwakye Ofosu stated that this forensic audit was initiated after an earlier audit conducted by Deloitte and Touche identified financial irregularities within the project. He explained that while the initial audit highlighted financial issues, it did not sufficiently identify the individuals responsible or confirm the legality of the transactions. Therefore, the forensic audit was commissioned to pinpoint those accountable for the irregularities and ascertain the lawfulness of the transactions. The Attorney General authorized the Auditor-General to conduct this forensic audit, which has now been completed. Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that he has not personally seen the report and would not comment on its findings prematurely. He reiterated that no individual would be shielded if the forensic audit uncovers wrongdoing, and the Attorney General would decide on appropriate legal actions based on the report's conclusions. The forensic audit aims to clarify how funds for the National Cathedral project were utilized and ensure accountability.
