Petrus Shikwaya denied bail in Ondangwa prosecutor murder case
Petrus Shikwaya, accused of providing funds for the acid allegedly used in the attack that killed Ondangwa prosecutor Justine Shiweda, has been denied bail. Shikwaya was arrested on November 23 last year and faces charges including conspiracy to commit murder and obstructing justice. He is also accused of defrauding Sanlam Namibia of N$154,000, a claim he denies, stating the money belonged to his uncle, Abner Mateus. Investigating officer detective chief inspector Antonius Gabriel testified that Shiweda's killing was allegedly orchestrated by Mateus after the prosecutor denied Mateus bail in a fraud case. Mateus reportedly planned to burn his docket at the Ondangwa court. Magistrate Kaeren Kleopas denied Shikwaya bail, stating he failed to demonstrate that his release would be in the interests of justice or that he was a suitable candidate for bail.
