Seven dead in light aircraft crash at Mt. Ololokwe, Samburu County
A light aircraft operated by Lady Lori Kenya Ltd crashed at Mt. Ololokwe in Samburu County, resulting in the deaths of all seven people on board. The victims included six foreign nationals and Kenyan pilot Josh Outram. The foreign nationals were identified as Americans Roger Edward Duarte, Adam Martin Hlavaty, Henry Parra, and Jose Alberto Suarez; Ecuadorian-American Stephany Maria Hollihan Vasconez; and Ecuadorian Michele Sensi-Contugi. The aircraft was traveling from Soyian-Laikipia to Loisaba Conservancy. The incident has brought attention to Mt. Ololokwe, a flat-topped mountain rising approximately 2,000 meters above sea level near Archer's Post. This landmark holds deep cultural and spiritual significance for the Samburu community, who consider it a sacred site for rituals and believe it is inhabited by ancestral spirits. The mountain's remote location, panoramic views, and ecological diversity have also made it a popular destination for hikers, photographers, and conservation tourism.
