Gabon's Planning Minister calls for public action following census results

She urged administrations and local authorities to utilize the data to better target investments and align public action with the realities of the population. Mvono highlighted the mobilization of various actors, including census agents, technical teams, local authorities, defense and security forces, mobile operators, and media, as well as diplomatic missions, foreign communities, and technical and financial partners like UNFPA and the World Bank. She noted that this support enhanced the operation's rigor, data quality, and coverage.

The minister also praised the digitalization of the census, which allowed for data processing within two months, a significant improvement from the two years it took for the 2013 census. Mvono emphasized that the true success of the census lies in the exploitation of its results, encouraging their integration into public policy design, programming, and evaluation. She stated that a more precise understanding of the population and its distribution would guide investments in essential services such as schools, health centers, water, electricity, housing, and roads.
