SBK Festival celebrates cultural dialogue through dance in Libreville
The 6th International Salsa Bachata Kizomba SBK Festival opened on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Libreville, aiming to highlight modern and contemporary dances while promoting Gabonese cultural heritage. The event, which gathered around a hundred participants and guests, featured artistic performances, urban and traditional dances, local cuisine, and craft exhibitions. The opening ceremony, held on the esplanade of the Ministry of Cultural Radiance, was presided over by the Minister of Cultural Radiance, Paul Ulrich Kessany. He stated that the festival is a space for dialogue, encounter, transmission, and creation, where cultures enrich each other and celebrate culture. Co-organizer Mika Tsinga emphasized the festival's primary goal of showcasing Latin partner dances and introducing Gabonese culture through gastronomy, crafts, and traditional dances. The international event, scheduled until August 9, 2026, is taking place at various locations, including the Ministry of Culture esplanade and the Radisson Blu hotel. Dancers from Cameroon, France, and Congo are also participating, enhancing its international scope. Co-organizers Yessie Makaya Koumba and Audrey Lapeby invite the public to attend the free celebration, highlighting culture as a bridge between generations and nations.
