Gabon signs agreement to boost poultry production and end chicken imports by 2027

This agreement, signed by Jean-Jack Mouyabi, Director General of Livestock, representing the ministry, and Théophile Boutamba, Director General of CEAG, aims to improve the supply of inputs to farmers and strengthen national production. The ultimate goal is to prepare for the cessation of broiler chicken imports, scheduled for January 1, 2027. The program will support 150 selected poultry farms.

Its first phase involves mobilizing 562,400 day-old chicks, 2,350 tons of feed, and veterinary products. Minister Pacôme Kossy stated that this agreement marks a new step in ordering inputs to empower farmers and contribute to the country's food sovereignty. The government seeks to ensure a regular, secure, and traceable supply of poultry inputs to intensify national production.

CEAG will manage the entire logistics chain, from supplier qualification and order placement to import, storage, delivery monitoring, and distribution of inputs, in coordination with the ministry.
