Gabon and European Union launch "Impact" project to strengthen civil society

This initiative aims to structure and energize Gabonese civil society around social and environmental issues. The program, funded by the European Union, seeks to support the emergence of a more inclusive and structured civil society in Gabon, enabling it to actively participate in the development and monitoring of public policies, particularly concerning social justice and environmental protection. The "Impact" project is implemented through a partnership with several non-governmental organizations, including Agir ensemble pour les droits humains, Initiative développement, the Centre d’étude et d’appui au développement local, and Femmes, Environnement, Santé et Éducation.

The initiative will provide financial support to civil society organizations and enhance their operational capacities. It also aims to strengthen their networks to increase their influence and participation in public decision-making processes, while promoting better consideration of issues related to social protection, minority rights, and sustainable environmental management. The 2026 Europe Fortnight, themed "Solidarities," runs from May 5 to 13, featuring a European film festival and educational activities for youth, serving as a platform for dialogue and strengthening cooperation between Gabon and the European Union.
