Four Senegalese national basketball players stranded in Mexico after Olympic qualifier
Four members of Senegal's national basketball team, Madjigu猫ne S猫ne, Dioma Kane, Nogaye Diagne, and Sabou Gu猫ye, remain stranded in Mexico after participating in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Guadalajara. They are expected to return to Dakar on Wednesday. Their stay in Mexico has been plagued by logistical challenges, including issues with visas, travel, airline tickets, luggage, and general support conditions. Their journey to Mexico involved multiple trips between Senegal and Morocco for visa formalities, followed by transit through Brazil and Colombia. During a layover in Brazil, the players were unable to retrieve their luggage due to visa restrictions preventing them from clearing customs and re-checking bags. This left them without clothes, personal effects, and toiletries. Upon arrival in Guadalajara the day before their first match, the players were reportedly exhausted from the arduous journey, with some experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, and palpitations. Their luggage was still missing, and several players faced difficulties accessing funds for their needs. This significantly disrupted their preparation, leading to a week without normal training and widespread fatigue. The return journey also presented problems, with issues concerning airline tickets between Guadalajara and Mexico City preventing the delegation from traveling together.
