Jacob Zuma dissolves MK Party's Presidential Task Team, establishes Strategic Presidential Team
MK Party leader Jacob Zuma has announced the dissolution of the party's Presidential Task Team and the formation of a new Strategic Presidential Team SPT, which will serve as the organization's highest decision-making body. This restructuring follows Zuma's recent move to place the MK Party's finances under his personal control, revoking the bank account signing authority of all officials, including the treasurer-general and secretary-general. A letter dated July 23 confirmed this change, which Zuma stated was necessary to restore financial governance and accountability amid internal tensions over alleged fund misappropriation. Party spokesperson Sifiso Mahlangu confirmed the changes, explaining that the SPT is vested with overarching authority for leadership, strategic direction, organizational coordination, and oversight. The decision aims to consolidate strategic authority, eliminate fragmentation in decision-making, and ensure the effective execution of party programs.
