Oran launches new smartphone factory with Chinese brand Vivo
Oran's industrial sector has expanded with the inauguration of a new smartphone manufacturing plant in the Es-Senia industrial zone. The facility, operated by Smart Technologic Innovation STI in partnership with the Chinese brand Vivo, currently produces 2,000 smartphones daily. Brahim Ouch猫ne, the wali of Oran, officially opened the factory. The project aims to gradually increase production to 6,000 phones per day once all production lines are operational. The 7,000 m虏 factory currently employs about 200 workers, with plans to reach 600 direct jobs and over 1,200 indirect jobs. The partnership with Vivo includes support for STI in various assembly stages, with a goal to increase local integration. The current integration rate for smartphones is approximately 20%, covering packaging elements like cardboard, cellophane, and box printing, sourced from local operators. The project also includes training for employees through an agreement with professional training and education services, and a research and development initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
