Defence Headquarters debunks fake video of Chief of Defence Staff endorsing political party
The Defence Headquarters DHQ has refuted a viral video allegedly showing the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, making partisan political statements. In a statement released on its X handle, the DHQ declared the video to be fabricated and not from the CDS. The DHQ clarified that the statements attributed to General Oluyede in the video are false and urged the public to disregard them. Military authorities stated that the video was created using artificial intelligence-generated manipulation, intended to deceive the public, misrepresent the CDS's stance, and discredit the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The DHQ reaffirmed the Nigerian military's non-partisan position, emphasizing its commitment to constitutional responsibilities. The Defence Headquarters condemned the video's creation and circulation, warning those responsible and individuals sharing it to cease immediately. Nigerians are advised to rely solely on official communication channels for information.
