Moses Adebisi, 35-year-old DLA candidate, declares himself Nigeria's incoming youngest president for 2027
Moses Adebisi, the 35-year-old presidential candidate for the Democratic Leadership Alliance DLA and a Harvard University PhD candidate, stated in an interview with Arise TV that he will become Nigeria's youngest president if elected in the 2027 general election. Adebisi, who is pursuing a PhD in Government, Political Thought and History, said his candidacy was prompted by a desire to offer a new political direction for Nigeria and followed calls from Nigerians for him to take a more direct role in politics beyond his empowerment activities. He previously focused on empowerment programs for low-income market women and young Nigerians, as well as a grassroots digital literacy campaign. Adebisi explained that he was persuaded to enter politics after concluding that his efforts outside the political sphere could not adequately address the country's problems. He also traveled to China to study its economic reforms and examined the United States' liberty agenda. Adebisi expressed confidence in his ability to lead Nigeria and defeat President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress in 2027, claiming the DLA has used a "submarine approach" to build its political structure. He also stated that the DLA was the only political party registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission between 2022 and 2026, despite 171 other associations seeking registration. Adebisi urged Nigerian youths to support his movement to determine the country's future.
