Egypt reaffirms one-China principle and support for China's reunification efforts
Egypt has reiterated its strong commitment to the one-China principle and its opposition to external interference in China鈥檚 internal affairs. This reaffirmation was made in a joint statement following discussions between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and China鈥檚 President Xi Jinping in Cairo. The statement explicitly recognized Taiwan as an integral part of the People鈥檚 Republic of China and expressed Egypt鈥檚 support for China鈥檚 sovereignty, territorial integrity, and reunification efforts. In return, China acknowledged the critical importance of the Nile River to Egypt and affirmed Egypt鈥檚 right to safeguard its water, food security, and development interests. Both nations urged all Nile Basin countries to adhere to international law, including the principle of not causing harm. The talks between President El-Sisi and President Xi covered bilateral relations, joint investments, and global and regional matters, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Egypt and China. This visit marks President Xi's first to Egypt in a decade, highlighting the comprehensive strategic partnership established in 2014.
