
Anambra security forces kill six suspected secessionists, one operative dies in gun battle
A joint security team in Anambra State, comprising the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, 302 Artillery Regiment, Nigerian Navy, and Agunachamba operatives, raided suspected secessionist hideouts in the Ogbaru Local Government Area. The operation, conducted on Saturday, resulted in the killing of six suspected armed members of the group after a prolonged gun battle, with others fleeing with injuries. One security operative was also killed, and another injured, when an explosive device detonated. The team recovered two pump-action guns and charms, and dismantled identified camps. The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji, commended the personnel's courage and professionalism, emphasizing the importance of intelligence sharing and inter-agency cooperation. He also commiserated with the family of the fallen operative and wished the injured operative a speedy recovery. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies.
