Egypt's President El-Sisi discusses Russia-Ukraine war and food security with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy

The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, regional developments, the Russia-Ukraine war, and food security. Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that they explored ways to strengthen trade and economic cooperation. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s support for a political settlement to the conflict and expressed readiness to support efforts for a political resolution.

Zelenskyy briefed El-Sisi on the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine war and commended Egypt's commitment to ending the conflict. They also addressed challenges to food security and the security situation in the Black Sea, particularly after the deaths of Egyptian citizens in Russian strikes on cargo vessels. Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine is a major food supplier to Egypt and other African and Middle Eastern countries, and these supplies are threatened by the war.

Zelenskyy offered condolences for the Egyptian casualties and invited President El-Sisi to visit Ukraine.
