Egypt’s Foreign Minister discusses Gaza reconstruction with World Bank, reaffirms Palestine stance

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Migration, Badr Abdelatty, met with Stefan Emblad, the World Bank’s Country Director for the West Bank, Gaza, and the Middle East, on Wednesday. Their discussion focused on enhancing cooperation for early recovery and large-scale reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, as well as coordinating international aid for the Palestinian people. Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s position on the Palestinian cause, stressing the need to implement the second phase of President Trump's peace plan, ensure humanitarian aid flow, and open all border crossings. He also highlighted the importance of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza operating within the Strip to manage daily affairs and prepare for the Palestinian Authority's return. Abdelatty praised the World Bank's experience in post-conflict reconstruction and its role in ensuring sustainable living conditions for Palestinians. He also warned against actions that could undermine peace efforts, citing escalating violations in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem. Emblad commended Egypt's role in supporting the Palestinian cause and its efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, affirming the World Bank's commitment to partnering with Egypt for sustainable development for Palestinians.
