SIS highlights Egyptian-Chinese presidential relations ahead of Xi Jinping's visit to Egypt
The Egyptian State Services SIS has issued a report detailing the historical milestones in Egyptian-Chinese relations, ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's upcoming visit to Egypt. The visit is expected to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Cairo and Beijing across various fields. Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed Ibrahim Abdel Khaleq El-Shennawy stated that President Xi Jinping will meet with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional and international issues. Over the past seven decades, relations have evolved into a comprehensive strategic partnership, contributing to Egypt's accession to BRICS. China views Egypt as a strategic gateway to Africa and the Middle East, with the Suez Canal enhancing its importance for global trade. The report also chronicles numerous meetings and visits between President El-Sisi and President Xi Jinping since 2014, including key agreements on economic and technical cooperation, the Belt and Road Initiative, and discussions on infrastructure projects, combating terrorism, and increasing Chinese investments in Egypt. Notable interactions include President El-Sisi's first visit to China in December 2014, President Xi Jinping's visit to Egypt in January 2016, and various meetings on the sidelines of international summits such as the G20, BRICS, and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
