Egypt's 2026/2027 development plan targets scientific research and innovation growth
Egypt's Economic and Social Development Plan for the 2026/2027 fiscal year outlines objectives for the scientific research sector, emphasizing innovation support, institutional framework development, and alignment with national development needs. The plan, consistent with Egypt's Vision 2030, seeks to enhance the country's standing in innovation and scientific research indicators and boost the capacity of research institutions to generate knowledge and applications for economic and developmental benefit. Key initiatives include completing scientific research projects, constructing research centers, securing project funding, and participating in international strategic projects such as smart Earth, telescope networks, and space data. The plan also focuses on expanding smart green projects and related research. To foster innovation, the government program aims to establish 15 new technology incubators, increasing the total to 57, and intends to engage over 3,000 students in the innovation program's next phase.
