El-Sisi reaffirms Egypt’s support for Libya’s unity in talks with Haftar

These remarks were made during a meeting with Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army LNA Khalifa Haftar. The meeting was also attended by Chief of General Staff of the Libyan National Army Khaled Haftar, Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund Head Belgassem Haftar, and Head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service Hassan Rashad. El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s firm support for Libya’s security and stability, as well as initiatives aimed at advancing these goals, and underscored Egypt’s support for achieving security, development, and prosperity in Libya while safeguarding its unity and territorial integrity.

The discussions also covered opportunities for joint cooperation to strengthen their productive partnership. The LNA commander-in-chief expressed appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to support peace, security, and stability in the region and in Libya, affirming his support for initiatives to achieve security and stability and preserve Libya’s unity. He also stressed his commitment to continued coordination with Egypt to address shared challenges and advance comprehensive development in Libya.

El-Sisi welcomed Haftar’s visit, highlighting the deep fraternal ties and the importance of strengthening historic bonds between the two neighboring countries.
