
Egypt seeks to expand US partnerships in ports and maritime transport, says Minister El-Wazir
Egypt aims to broaden its collaboration with US companies in maritime transport and port operations to attract more transit trade and enhance the global competitiveness of its ports, Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir stated at the U.S.鈥揈gypt Ports Infrastructure and Maritime Innovation Forum in New Cairo. El-Wazir highlighted Egypt's successful strategic partnerships with global port operators and shipping lines, expressing interest in extending these to US companies, particularly in maritime transport, logistics, and port infrastructure. He emphasized Egypt's strategic location, the Suez Canal, and its developing port network, aligning with US expertise in transportation and supply chains. Egypt is implementing eight integrated international logistics corridors connecting its Mediterranean and Red Sea ports, the Suez Canal, dry ports, and industrial zones via various transport networks. These corridors, including Arish-Taba and Sokhna-Alexandria, are designed to reduce transport costs and time, strengthening Egypt's role as a regional logistics hub. The minister noted these projects offer significant investment opportunities for US companies. Egypt's maritime transport strategy aims to develop its ports into integrated logistics hubs, expanding to 19 commercial ports by 2030, increasing port areas, and adding new berths. The plan also includes expanding the national maritime fleet to 40 vessels by 2030 and implementing green maritime transport initiatives. El-Wazir affirm
