Egyptian agricultural exports reach 6.8 million tons, driven by quality and market expansion

This growth is attributed to government initiatives to boost competitiveness, adherence to global standards by farmers and exporters, and efforts to open new international markets. Farouk highlighted that the presence of Egyptian crops in major global markets demonstrates international confidence in their safety and quality, supported by a digital coding and tracking system for export farms. Agricultural exports are a vital source of foreign currency and a key driver of economic growth.

The minister praised the coordination among various ministry bodies in streamlining trade processes and maintaining technical standards. Egypt plans to target new markets in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Citrus fruits led the export list with 2.3 million tons, followed by fresh potatoes 929,000 tons, sweet potatoes 280,000 tons, grapes 189,000 tons, fresh onions 183,000 tons, and beans 150,000 tons.

Other significant export commodities included fresh garlic, strawberries, mangoes, tomatoes, pomegranates, and guavas.
