Egypt vaccinates over 2.1 million livestock against Lumpy Skin Disease and sheep pox

Egypt has vaccinated more than 2.1 million head of livestock against Lumpy Skin Disease and sheep and goat pox nationwide, in preparation for Eid al-Adha. The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation initiated a nationwide vaccination campaign on March 28, 2026, through the General Authority for Veterinary Services. This effort is part of the state's broader strategy to safeguard livestock and promote animal health. The total number of vaccinated animals has reached approximately 2,161,667 across the country. This figure includes 1,467,519 cattle vaccinated against Lumpy Skin Disease and 694,148 sheep and goats vaccinated against sheep pox. The Ministry reported that the epidemiological situation remains stable, indicating the success of these preventive measures and proactive vaccination initiatives.
