
Suez Canal sees gradual recovery in container ship transits, says SCA Chairman
Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority SCA, announced a gradual recovery in container ship transits through the Suez Canal. Several major shipping lines are resuming services via the Canal, opting against rerouting around the Cape of Good Hope. Rabie made these remarks during a meeting with Ahmed Fawzy El-Sherif, Egypt鈥檚 Ambassador to Panama, held at the SCA鈥檚 headquarters in Ismailia Governorate. This meeting, El-Sherif's first with the SCA before assuming his ambassadorial post, focused on enhancing cooperation between the two sides. Rabie emphasized the strategic relationship between the Suez Canal Authority and the Panama Canal Authority, highlighting the impact of climate and geopolitical challenges on maritime transport. Ambassador El-Sherif expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation between the two canals, noting their shared characteristics and challenges, and plans to intensify communication and explore joint maritime and cultural events.
