Egypt reaffirms support for Sudan's unity and Sudanese-owned political process

Abdelatty emphasized the importance of a political process that is entirely Sudanese-owned, aims to preserve the country’s state resources and institutions, and meets the Sudanese people’s aspirations for security and stability. The ministers also explored ways to strengthen bilateral relations across various sectors, with Abdelatty highlighting Egypt’s commitment to cooperation that benefits both countries.

He also expressed Egypt's pride in the historical and fraternal ties between the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples. The call comes amidst the ongoing conflict in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, which began on April 15, 2023, leading to numerous casualties and millions displaced.
