Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt Diab Al-Louh dies at 68 in Cairo

The Palestinian Embassy announced that his funeral and burial ceremony will be held on Monday in Cairo. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas mourned Al-Louh, praising his distinguished national and diplomatic career dedicated to serving Palestine and defending the rights of its people. President Abbas highlighted Al-Louh’s dedication to duty, high moral character, humility, tolerance, commitment to national unity, and prioritization of the national interest.

Al-Louh served as the State of Palestine’s ambassador to several countries, most recently Egypt, where he was appointed in November 2017 and also served as the permanent representative to the League of Arab States. He played an active diplomatic and political role, particularly on issues related to the Gaza Strip, and consistently emphasized Egypt’s role in supporting the Palestinian cause. Al-Louh had a long history of political activism, rising through the ranks of the Fatah movement and holding various political, media, and organizational positions.

His diplomatic career included ambassadorships in Mauritania, Yemen, and China. He also held academic qualifications with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism and media.
