Egypt introduces new affordable internet and mobile packages amid price adjustments

A new fixed internet package will be available for LE150, down from the current lowest price of LE210, and a new mobile package will cost LE5, replacing the current minimum of LE13. Additionally, all government and educational websites will remain free to access on both fixed and mobile networks, even after users exhaust their data bundles. This initiative coincides with planned price increases of 9 to 15 percent for some telecom services, including taxes, though prices for fixed and mobile voice calls, recharge cards, and e-wallet services will not change.

The NTRA stated that these measures aim to ensure the sustainability of telecom services, improve network quality, and enable companies to invest in infrastructure expansion and modernization due to increased demand. Fixed internet consumption in Egypt rose by 36 percent over the past year, leading to network pressure and a need to align pricing with service costs. The pricing adjustments are attributed to economic pressures such as exchange rate fluctuations, higher electricity and fuel costs, increased operating expenses, and rising labor and network deployment costs.
