Egypt and Libya consider $1 billion oil pipeline from Tobruk to Alexandria

This pipeline would connect Tobruk, Libya, with Alexandria, Egypt, and is estimated to cost over US$1 billion. Its purpose is to transport Libyan crude oil to Egyptian refineries. The project follows recent discussions between Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Libyan counterpart Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba in Cairo, where they focused on strengthening bilateral energy cooperation in areas such as natural gas, petroleum refining, and electricity grid connections.

Egypt has previously supplied electricity to eastern Libya during power outages.
