Effiduase-Asokore MP criticizes government over economic conditions and cocoa sector issues

Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye, the Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, has criticized the government regarding worsening economic conditions, unemployment, and challenges in the cocoa sector. In an April 12, 2026 Facebook post, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Health Committee accused the government of failing cocoa farmers due to payment delays and an "insensitive reduction in cocoa prices." He also highlighted unemployment among trained professionals, including teachers and nursing trainees, and lamented delays in salary payments for some teachers recruited in 2024. Dr. Afriye further criticized rising utility costs and fees, describing them as burdensome. He deemed some government flagship programs ineffective and raised concerns about illegal mining. During his constituency engagement, Dr. Afriye donated various items to communities and called for unity and reconciliation within his party, urging support for its leadership and presidential candidate ahead of the 2028 elections.
