Esther Okereke, the presidential candidate for the National Rescue Movement, has committed to increasing Nigeria's electricity generation to 25,000MW within her first 100 days in office if she wins the 2027 presidential election. Okereke, a Nollywood actress and humanitarian, stated that resolving the power crisis would be her primary focus, believing that reliable electricity would help identify and address other issues, including insecurity. Speaking on Arise TV, she asserted that Nigeria possesses the necessary professionals to improve the power sector, who only require proper mandate and support. She emphasized that corruption is the main impediment to progress and vowed to combat it, alongside personal interests within the sector. Okereke also plans to pursue renewable energy and decentralized power generation.
