
D'Tigers announce 12-man roster for FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Tunisia
Head coach David Fizdale has named a 12-man roster for Nigeria's D'Tigers as they prepare to regroup in Tunisia for the fourth window of the 2027 FIBA Men's Basketball World Cup qualifiers. The squad includes Chimezie Metu, Josh Okogie, Caleb Agada, Stan Okoye, Chima Moneke, Ike Nwamu, Udoka Azubuike, Efe Abogidi, Ebuka Izundu, Manny Obaseki, Jordan Ogundiran, and Michael Efevberha. Chima Moneke returns to the team for the first time in an official senior international match since February 2021. Nigeria is among 12 teams that advanced to the second round of the African qualifiers. The teams carry their first-round results into this phase, with each team playing three new opponents in two additional windows. Nigeria is in a group with Cameroon, South Sudan, Guinea, Tunisia, and Cape Verde. D'Tigers will play Cameroon on August 27, South Sudan on August 28, and Cape Verde on August 30 in the upcoming window. The top two teams from each group and the best third-placed team will qualify for the World Cup in Qatar, with the final qualifying window in February 2027.
