Woman alleges hospital bought her newborn for GH¢30,000, paid GH¢27,000
A woman has alleged that she agreed to sell her newborn baby girl to a hospital for GH¢30,000 after staff allegedly offered to buy the child shortly after delivery. She claimed that despite selling her baby, she was paid GH¢27,000 instead, with the remaining GH¢3,000 allegedly deducted to cover expenses incurred during her pregnancy. Speaking on Ahenfie FM on August 3, 2026, the woman stated the alleged offer was made after she experienced a difficult labor with complications. She claimed her baby became stuck during delivery and that she pleaded with the midwife for a small cut to assist, but they declined. She further alleged that after giving birth, hospital staff offered her GH¢30,000 for her newborn, and a midwife instructed her to leave the baby behind before her discharge the next day. The woman explained she told her family the baby had died, noting the child's father and his family showed little interest in the pregnancy. She also claimed she received GH¢27,000 instead of the agreed GH¢30,000, with the difference attributed to pregnancy expenses. She delivered on May 23, 2026, and stated she is now speaking out because she wants her baby back and aims to expose alleged bad practices by some health facilities.
