Delta State Governor Oborevwori advocates economic diversification beyond oil revenue

Speaking at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 in Asaba, the governor emphasized the need to expand investments beyond oil and gas for sustainable economic growth, job creation, and shared prosperity. He highlighted the state's untapped investment potential in areas such as agriculture, energy, the blue economy, transport infrastructure, solid minerals, and the digital economy. Governor Oborevwori explained that the summit was designed as a private sector-driven initiative to connect investors with viable business opportunities.

He affirmed the state government's role in creating an enabling environment through supportive policies, improved infrastructure, security, and strategic partnerships. The governor mentioned that Delta State has secured land and undertaken investment roadshows to countries like China and Brazil to showcase its economic potential. He expressed optimism that the summit would lead to tangible investments, accelerating industrialization, expanding employment, and positioning Delta State as a leading investment destination in Nigeria.
