Junet Mohamed accuses Rigathi Gachagua of plotting Raila Odinga's assassination during 2023 demonstrations
Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed has accused Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of instructing security officers to assassinate former Prime Minister Raila Odinga during the 2023 demonstrations. Speaking at a press conference in Nairobi, Junet claimed Gachagua summoned security officers at 5 AM and ordered them to target Raila. Junet's statements were a response to Gachagua's public comments about the state of the ODM party and Raila Odinga. Junet also alleged that Gachagua lobbied President William Ruto against appointing General Ogolla as Chief of Defence Forces, citing his ethnic background. Additionally, Junet recounted an encounter with Gachagua on a British Airways flight where Gachagua allegedly refused to greet him. Junet suggested Gachagua's public outbursts were a reaction to a recent gathering in Naivasha and expressed concern about the state of the opposition in Kenya.
