VeryDarkMan addresses insecurity and judicial attacks at NBA conference
Social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, clarified his invitation to the 2026 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He stated he was there to share experiences on insecurity, not to lecture legal professionals. VeryDarkMan highlighted concerns about the judiciary, citing the reported abduction of a judge traveling from Sokoto State who was kidnapped in Kebbi on July 26 and held for about a week. He criticized media organizations for insufficient coverage of killings by assailants. He also spoke about the June 13, 2025, attack on Yelwata in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, claiming to be the first respondent. He alleged that the Yelwata attack, which reportedly left over 200 dead, was a retaliation by Fulani individuals after a Fulani boy was killed. A prosecution witness at the Federal High Court in Abuja in February 2026 testified that disgruntled Fulani chiefs sponsored over 200 armed men for the Yelwata attack.
