BDP MP questions party's own floor-crossing law
Gabane-Mmankgodi Member of Parliament Mmusi recently questioned the Minister for State President, Defence and Security Moeti Mohwasa regarding the repeal of the Constitution Amendment Act No.1 of 2021. Mmusi argued that repealing the Act would strengthen democracy and promote freedom of association, aligning with the government's commitment to human rights. However, the government indicated that the law would remain in effect. In his parliamentary response, the minister also corrected Mmusi on the specific legislation, clarifying that the applicable law is the Constitution Amendment Act No.1 of 2021, not Act No.14 of 2020 as initially cited.
