
Five accused in Sanlam fraud case granted bail by Ondangwa Magistrate鈥檚 Court
Five individuals, including four medical professionals, were granted bail of N$25,000 each by the Ondangwa Magistrate鈥檚 Court on Friday. They are implicated in an alleged N$2.2 million fraud case involving Sanlam. The accused are Sanlam financial adviser Getrud Ipinge, Omuhungo Clinic nurse Michael Kaviyu, Ondandjokwe Intermediate Hospital medical doctor Varela Gomes, intern doctor Kelsey Kudumo, and former Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital employee Festus Amwaalwa. The medical professionals were arrested in March, and Ipinge in May, facing 13 charges. Magistrate Bornface Konga noted difficulties in understanding some charges, particularly those related to the Prevention of Organised Crime Act. Bail conditions include surrendering travel documents, refraining from applying for new ones, and not committing similar offenses while on bail.
