Chinese Foreign Minister: Cairo and Beijing reject attacks on civilians and infrastructure

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that Egypt and China oppose all attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, and do not support threats to the stability of Gulf states. In a statement from the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, the Minister emphasized that while peace talks between the United States and Iran are challenging, negotiation is the only way to prevent further casualties and losses. He noted that diplomacy is crucial to de-escalate the conflict and restore normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The Minister added that promoting peace talks, seizing mediation opportunities, and working towards immediate de-escalation are top priorities as the conflict spreads. He affirmed Beijing's support for regional countries in maintaining calm and responding rationally, urging a long-term perspective for lasting regional stability.
