
Nigeria achieves record-breaking victory in ICC U-19 Men鈥檚 Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifier
The Junior Yellow Greens of Nigeria secured a commanding 407-run victory over Mozambique in the ICC U-19 Men鈥檚 Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifier Division 2. Nigeria posted a tournament-high 461 runs for six wickets in 50 overs, with Peculiar Egemasi scoring 123 runs and Edem Nyong contributing an unbeaten 137 runs from 53 balls. Captain Ali Rahmon added 41 runs, and Hossana Omonkhobhio made 84 runs. In response, Mozambique was bowled out for just 54 runs in 23 overs. Kenneth Boniface took three wickets for 13 runs, and Princewill Chigozie claimed two wickets for eight runs. Peculiar Egemasi, named player of the match, also took three wickets for one run. This win significantly boosts Nigeria's chances in the qualification race, placing them second with six points, behind Uganda and level with hosts Rwanda. Uganda, Nigeria, and Rwanda will advance to Division 1 for the 2028 ICC Men鈥檚 U-19 T20 World Cup qualifiers, joining Kenya, Namibia, and Tanzania.
