Burkina Faso advocates for innovative media content to strengthen Sino-African relations
Burkina Faso is participating in the 7th edition of the Forum on Sino-African Media Cooperation, held in Beijing, China, from August 19 to 21, 2026. The event, themed "Sharing new development opportunities, jointly building a new audiovisual future," brings together government officials, media professionals, and audiovisual stakeholders from China and Africa. The Minister highlighted that digital transformations have significantly reduced distances, enabling stories from Ouagadougou to reach Beijing in seconds and African music to resonate with Chinese audiences, and vice versa. He stressed that media content should foster mutual understanding of cultures, values, and aspirations, moving beyond purely economic or institutional cooperation to embrace a stronger cultural dynamic based on shared experiences, creation, and respect for differences. Ouédraogo praised existing cooperation, citing training programs and professional immersions for Burkinabè professionals in China. He noted that approximately twenty Burkinabè journalists and communicators are currently in China for capacity building. Burkina Faso aims to deepen technological and audiovisual program exchanges and develop co-production projects with Chinese media to promote Chinese culture in Burkina Faso and enhance the visibility of Burkinabè culture in China.
