
Nigerian banking bodies advocate for deeper financial inclusion and MSME support
The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria CIBN and the Association of Corporate Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks ACAMB are calling on banks to enhance financial inclusion, empower women, and support micro, small, and medium enterprises MSMEs through targeted policies. This call was made during ACAMB's visit to Dr. Dele Alabi, the newly inaugurated 24th President and Chairman of Council of the CIBN, to congratulate him and discuss collaboration. Dr. Alabi's "IMPACT" vision, unveiled on May 16, 2026, focuses on consolidating local impact and enhancing global relevance, with pillars including inclusion across geographic, gender, and generational lines, membership growth, professionalism, accountability, skills development, and technology. He emphasized that financial inclusion and women's empowerment are priorities, as women are often primary financial managers and caregivers, and improved access to financial services strengthens household resilience. The CIBN is open to collaborating with the Central Bank of Nigeria and ACAMB on knowledge-sharing and public awareness programs. ACAMB President Jide Sipe stated that expanding financial services access promotes economic growth and reduces inequality. ACAMB also announced its 30th-anniversary celebration and invited Dr. Alabi to chair its Gala Night on September 30, 2026.
