
Egypt and Somalia discuss regional developments and strategic partnership
Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call with Somalia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, to discuss bilateral relations and developments in the Horn of Africa. Minister Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership across political and economic sectors, reaffirming support for Somalia's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He emphasized Egypt's rejection of unilateral actions that undermine Somali sovereignty and its commitment to supporting efforts against terrorism and violent extremism. The Egyptian Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of sustainable funding for the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia AUSSOM and the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia UNSOM to ensure regional security and Somalia's unity. The Somali Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for Egypt's support and commitment to close coordination.
