Burkinabe Parliament participates in first confederal session of Parliaments in Niamey for AES

The meeting, scheduled from August 23 to 29, 2026, marks a significant step in establishing the confederation's parliamentary institutions. Dr. Bougouma, acting as president of the confederal sessions, will preside over the opening ceremony and install confederal deputies from the parliaments of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. This initial phase, running until August 25, will focus on adopting the session's agenda and committee work.

The first ordinary confederal session will commence on August 26, 2026, at the Mahatma Gandhi International Conference Center in Niamey, under the presidency of General Abdourahamane Tiani, president of Niger. Beyond its inaugural nature, this gathering aims to fully integrate parliamentary institutions into the construction process of the Confederation of Sahel States, establishing a permanent framework for representation, cooperation, deliberation, and parliamentary diplomacy among the three member states.
